Title: Travel Mechanic

Reports to: Vice President of National Operations and dotted line to individual Branch Managers

Multiple positions located in: 

  • Daytona, FL  
  • Davison, MI
  • Pittsburgh, PA 
  • Baltimore, MD 

 Job Summary: The Travel Mechanic’s primary responsibility is to travel to Mersino branches to maintain, service and repair the company’s mechanical equipment, including pumps, generators and related equipment.

We are looking for master mechanics with heavy diesel experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel 75%,up to 3 weeks at a time per location 
  • Service, repair, and maintain the company’s fleet and mechanical equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and execute necessary repairs
  • Complete necessary service and maintenance on all equipment
  • Perform quality checks on repaired equipment
  • Conduct training onsite with local branch service personnel 
  • Assist in the hiring process of new mechanics at local branches
  • Perform manual disassembly and assembly of pumping equipment and mechanisms
  • Repair and maintain submersible and centrifugal pumps as well as generators
  • Maintain service order process, including providing descriptions of repairs on maintenance on mechanical equipment; file appropriate documentation as required
  • Keep work area clean and organized for enhanced shop operations
  • Maintain accurate service records on all equipment serviced
  • Dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with company and regulatory agency requirements
  • Adhere to applicable company and regulatory agency environmental, health and safety standards

 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in the service and repair of large equipment preferred
  • Degree or certificate in diesel or heavy-duty repairs or related field desired
  • Planning and organizational skills in handling multiple projects
  • Proficient in utilizing current technology to diagnose and repair mechanical equipment
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
  • Experience in servicing and repairing heavy diesel engines desired
  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward
