Decreasing water table elevations in the Rouge River resulted in increased river water temperature, creating a risk for explosion at the steel plant when using river water for cooling its process systems.
Design a system capable of pumping water out of the river and discharging into a chiller tower that returned the water to the channel at a safe temperature.
As requested, the pumps provided the desired capacity to control temperatures for the length of the hot, dry summer. MERSINO provided identical services the following summer, after which time permanent vertical turbines were manufactured and installed.
