From Failures to Performance – One Customer’s Return to Global Pump

The Temptation to Cut Costs

To reduce costs, a long-standing customer of Global Pump, the in-house manufacturing division of Mersino, made the decision to purchase a sizeable batch of pumps from a competitor. At first glance, the lower price seemed favorable. The customer decided the pumps were the right choice for the job and was promised the same level of performance that they were accustomed to.

Reality Sets In

However, within the first 75 days of operation, the competitor pumps began to have significant operational failures. These pumps were designed for very specific, “ideal” conditions, so when the jobsite conditions inevitably changed, the equipment was unable to keep up.

The main issue involved the impeller bolts snapping mid-operation. The subsequent chain of damage – detached impeller striking shafts, wet ends being destroyed, and pumps overheating – led to serious downtime, repair costs, and lost revenue.

Returning to Global Pump

After having no choice but to stop using the competitor pumps, the customer turned back to the brand who had never let them down: Global Pump.

We quickly stepped in to retrofit their fleet – and thanks to Global Pump’s adaptable engineering, we were easily able to retrofit the failed units. We installed key components – like double volutes and enclosed impellers – that make Global Pump stand out among the rest. Additionally, the skids or engines incurred no damage during retrofitting, ultimately saving more time and costs.

A Long-Term Solution

This experience underscores what many of our long-term customers already know: while cheaper equipment might look appealing on paper, it rarely delivers lasting value. Global Pump’s engineering, versatility, and durability consistently outperform short-term solutions—especially when the work gets tough.
